Ukrainian military observer Vasyl Pekhno shared his opinions with Espreso TV."Without a doubt, it's the Kostiantynivka area, the junction of Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka, where the enemy was advancing, a month ago, they pushed a wedge into our defenses beyond the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad–Kostiantynivka route. To this day, it remains the most difficult spot on the front where our defenders are holding the line. I would even highlight the Kostiantynivka–Toretsk agglomeration, that area, because around Toretsk and Chasiv Yar, our fighters are defending from three directions, a full 180°. Russian troops are attacking from three sides, and this kind of defense is exhausting, it demands more resources, and you're constantly looking over your shoulder to avoid enemy fire. It's not just a 180° defense, it's also a serious problem for our supply lines," he said.Pekhno noted that Russian forces have largely abandoned the idea of storming large settlements or fortified areas head-on. Instead, they’re trying to flank them."They’re going around from the flanks, and they don’t even need to physically cut the supply routes, it’s enough to get within 15–20 kilometers of the routes supporting these defensive hubs. That’s why the situation with logistics in the Toretsk zone is extremely difficult. The Russians are trying to create the same problem for Kostiantynivka, advancing west of it via ravines and wooded areas toward Druzhkivka. That might be their goal and objective. Again, not necessarily to physically reach the roads, just to get within 15 kilometers so their FPV drones, especially the fiber-optic ones, can fly there. That would make any movement toward Kostiantynivka nearly impossible, that’s exactly what the occupiers are aiming for," he explained.According to Pekhno, the situation is most difficult in this agglomeration. At the same time, it's also tense in the Novopavlivka direction."It’s also worth pointing out the Novopavlivka direction. The enemy is pressing in three spots there and has reached the edge of the Dnipropetrovsk region. They’re continuing their media-driven campaign to show they’ve crossed the Donetsk-Dnipropetrovsk border. One of the targets is the village of Yalta, located in the Novopavlivka area, and there are two more locations further north. The enemy clearly outnumbers us, and the fact that we've managed to hold the line, and they still haven’t planted their flag on Dnipropetrovsk territory, is honestly inexplicable, how exactly our fighters are managing to hold that defense is beyond me. These are the two hot spots, south and north of Pokrovsk, where, in my view, the front remains under the most pressure," he added. On June 25, there were 154 combat clashes across the Russian-Ukrainian front. In the Pokrovsk direction alone, Ukrainian forces repelled 51 assault attempts.
