Quote from the SSU: "The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces and the Security Service of Ukraine have carried out a joint special operation that resulted in the destruction of two Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers and damage to two others at the Marinovka airfield."
Details: Long-range drones were used to conduct the operation.
The attack also caused a fire to break out in the airfield's technical maintenance area – a critical part of the military facility.
Russian forces use this section to get aircraft ready for missions, perform routine maintenance, and carry out repairs.
The General Staff added that Su-34s are the main tactical military aircraft that Russia uses to carry out missile and bomb strikes against Ukrainian positions and civilian areas.
"They are classed as frontline fighter-bombers in the Russian Aerospace Forces," the General Staff said. "They are particularly used to drop guided aerial bombs, including some equipped with glide and correction modules [UMPKs]."
