According to a CNN report citing Ukrainian intelligence sources, North Korea could send an additional 25,000–30,000 troops on top of the 11,000 soldiers already believed to have operated in Russia’s Kursk region. An assessment by Ukrainian intelligence notes that Russia’s Defense Ministry is capable of supplying "needed equipment, weapons and ammunition" with the aim of "further integration to Russian combat units." The report also states there is a strong likelihood that North Korean forces will take part in combat operations in Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine to bolster Russian troops, including during major offensive campaigns. There are also signs, according to the assessment, that Russia has modified some of its military aircraft to transport personnel — a move that may indicate plans to move tens of thousands of foreign soldiers across Siberia, which borders North Korea. On June 30, North Korea’s state television published photos of soldiers who fought on Russia’s side against Ukraine.
