This was noted by political analyst and former Israeli ambassador to Russia Arkady Mil-Man in a conversation with Ilan Berman, vice president of the American Foreign Policy Council.According to him, information is constantly being passed from Russian military intelligence to Iran; he believes that Iran's attacks on Israel are “the work of Russian GRU,” as serious damage was inflicted on a strategic facility related to energy. However, Mil-Man does not expect real military aid from Russia to Iran because Russia needs weapons and troops for itself.“What interests me most is what Iran will do in the context of Ukraine, because over the past year Iran has greatly assisted Russia with drones and defense for Russian troops. Notably, not only does Russia fail to help Iran, but China also doesn’t provide much support,” noted Ilan Berman. However, experts expressed doubts about Trump taking as tough a stance on Putin, over his delay in negotiations with Ukraine, as he has with Iran.“Russia is a nuclear power. Medvedev and others say extremist things to show that Putin is actually quite moderate. This is all strategy, and I think the White House understands this... If Putin delays time like the Iranians, will America strike Russia? I don’t think it will. But, in my opinion, Putin knows very well that the first time Trump was president, he strongly supported Ukraine, providing Javelins and other important systems that Obama never provided,” Berman commented. The U.S. returning to the “policeman” role and restoring order is a good signal for the world, showing intolerance toward those undermining global security. Thus, American policy toward Russia may change in the future.“It seems to me that what is happening now in and with Iran may mark the beginning of a different tone. Here in Israel, people don’t fully grasp, in my opinion, that the war in the Middle East and the war in Ukraine are, in principle, interconnected vessels. Because there is a very serious struggle ongoing for a new world order,” Mil-Man noted.
