Trump’s special representative, Keith Kellogg, arrived in Ukraine with a mission that goes beyond formal statements. The true purpose of the visit is to gather objective information about the frontline situation, the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), and the political mood in the country. This was stated by historian and Americanist Dmytro Dovhopolyi, a PhD in history and former staff member of the UN Secretariat (1987–2019), on Espreso TV.“The Kellogg visit is very interesting. But I would say that the root cause of this visit lies in the Trump administration itself. In communications, there is a concept known as the ‘last mile problem,’ when a large amount of information is collected, but at the final stage — the so-called last mile — this information does not reach the consumer,” Dovhopolyi noted.According to the former UN Secretariat staffer, a head of state typically receives information from three sources — the military, diplomats, and intelligence officers.“So what do we see now with Trump? The military — it's unclear what’s going on with Hicks and the halting of aid deliveries to Ukraine, so they can't be trusted. Diplomats — last week the dismantling of the State Department began, with three and a half thousand employees being dismissed, and there is no ambassador in Kyiv. Intelligence — according to The New York Times, there are 12 CIA stations operating on the front lines, but the head of U.S. national intelligence is Tulsi Gabbard, who has a clearly pro-Russian stance. So someone independent needs to be sent to collect information and understand what is really happening in Ukraine,” Dovhopolyi explained. The historian suggested that the special representative of U.S. President Donald Trump, Keith Kellogg, has real tasks — specifically, three key questions to address.“First — the actual situation at the front. Yesterday, President Zelenskyy made a statement assuring he would speak the truth and nothing but the truth. Second — the real needs: what exactly needs to be supplied. Third — the issue that is not openly discussed — the internal situation in Ukraine. What are the public sentiments, what is the balance of power, who to support and who not to. So I believe that answers to these three questions are the most important, not the messages Kellogg might deliver,” Dovhopolyi emphasized. On Monday, July 14, the special representative of U.S. President Donald Trump, Keith Kellogg, arrived in Ukraine for a visit. In Kyiv, he met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
