Aviation expert and analyst Kostiantyn Kryvolap stated this on Espreso TV."The fact is that a very good media picture has been created around interceptor drones. In particular, interceptor drones are a game changer. However, this is not true, and no one has canceled physics yet. If we take a look at what we will have in the end, powerful engines are needed to hit a Shahed UAV at an altitude of 4,000 kilometers with 1.5 kg of explosives. Because it is possible to hit a Shahed, but if it is not hit in the combat unit, fuel tank, or engine, it will not guarantee a downing. For example, fire groups hit a Shahed, but this does not guarantee that it will be destroyed," explained Kryvolap. The expert said that Ukraine currently has both domestic interceptor drones and those supplied by partners."In other words, to actually shoot down Shaheds at an altitude of more than 4,000 kilometers, we will eventually need interceptor drones measuring two meters. I'm not talking about the guidance systems, but only the engine power and the warhead. We have several models of interceptor drones, both ours and those produced by our partners. However, their number is very limited. On the other hand, if a Shahed is flying at an altitude of up to 2,000 kilometers, interceptor drones will be an effective means of destroying it. Under such conditions, the interceptor drone can perfectly see and control the flight of the Shahed," he added. On July 4, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to another Russian attack and announced the launch of interceptor drones that shot down dozens of enemy UAVs. Zelenskyy also said that Ukraine plans to maximize the production of interceptor drones.
