New air defense systems for Ukraine are already on way

This was announced by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi following a conversation with General Alexus Grynkewich, the Supreme Allied Commander of NATO's Joint Armed Forces in Europe and a U.S. Air Force general."We also discussed the U.S. and NATO plan to supply us with air defense systems, paid for by Europe, to protect our land and save civilian lives," Syrskyi said.He expressed his gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte for the rapid delivery of these systems."They are already on the way!" the Ukrainian commander-in-chief emphasized.Patriot air defense systems for UkraineAs a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump recently announced that Ukraine would receive Patriot air defense systems funded by NATO allies. He stated that Kyiv might get 17 systems.In addition, at the recent Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting, participants pledged further support to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.Germany’s Defense Minister stated that his country is ready to deliver two Patriot systems. However, he warned that this would only be possible if replacements are quickly provided.Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans also said the Netherlands is ready to make a significant contribution toward transferring American systems to Ukraine.German Chancellor Friedrich Merz added that Berlin and Norway will make an "important contribution" to Ukraine’s air defense.At the same time, German officials noted that the Patriot systems President Trump mentioned would not arrive in Ukraine before the spring of 2026.
