Military expert Dmytro Sniehyrov, co-chair of the civic initiative Prava Sprava, said this on Espreso TV."Regarding the protection of Ukrainian airspace, first of all, the agreement between the United States and Germany includes the transfer of five Patriot air defense systems. In addition, it’s worth remembering that Trump spoke about transferring 17 air defense systems for Ukraine’s needs. If he’s mentioning this number, he’s referring to something concrete. I don’t rule out that these could come not only from European countries. Patriots are on combat duty in a number of other countries, including in the Middle East, Central East, and Asian countries," Sniehyrov commented. In his opinion, there’s no need to panic or claim that all is lost; on the contrary, it’s worth paying attention to the latest statements from both the NATO Secretary General and the Supreme Allied Commander Europe. Yesterday, July 25, information appeared that a series of meetings are being held regarding the practical implementation of proposals from the Trump administration."Let me add more positive news. After Trump’s recent conversation with the Russian dictator, the U.S. president lifted the pause on the re-export of American weapons, which had been put on hold during Biden’s term. What is re-export? It’s the transfer of American weapons to European or Asian countries that have already received Patriots under military-technical assistance programs or have purchased them under relevant programs. We’re talking about countries that are strategic partners of the U.S. outside of NATO. Right now, everyone is focusing on the Patriots, but after Trump’s phone call with Putin, Italy delivered a SAMP/T air defense system to us, which is the European equivalent of the Patriot. For some reason, no one is talking about the fact that this has already been delivered. Norway has also announced that it is transferring NASAMS air defense systems, which are considered among the most modern and effective in the world," the military expert noted.According to him, the White House is protected by NASAMS systems, which are jointly produced by a Norwegian-American company. It should be noted that a contract has already been signed with Norway to set up NASAMS production in Ukraine."And finally, more positive news: after Trump’s phone call with Putin, Germany, as part of the re-export program, has already delivered 100 missiles for the Patriot systems. The entire defense industry of the United States and European countries can only produce 600 Patriot missiles per year. And most importantly, the cost of one PAC-3 missile for the Patriot is $8 million. Do the math: $800 million worth has already been delivered, just for air defense. I’m not even mentioning the supply of American Hawk systems, for which a contract has already been signed. Trump has announced a military-technical assistance package worth $320 million. So, dear Ukrainians, these are colossal changes—Ukrainian skies will be protected," Sniehyrov concluded. On July 25, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi announced that new air defense systems provided by the U.S. and paid for by European partners would soon arrive in Ukraine.
