Russian opposition figure and political analyst Alexander Morozov, who is currently in Prague, said this in an interview with Antin Borkovskyi, host of the Studio West program on Espreso TV channel."The story of this conflict is not entirely clear, to be honest, because it has taken on a very serious character. Aliyev did not previously respond to the Kremlin so sharply," he said.In Morozov's opinion, it is not entirely clear why the Kremlin has reached such a situation of conflict with Azerbaijan."After all, it should be recalled that back in February 2022, just a few days before the start of the full-scale invasion, a treaty of alliance was signed between Russia and Azerbaijan. Without going into details, it can be said that this is a conflict that will not be resolved now or in the near future," the analyst noted. The expert added that it is obvious there are some serious reasons behind it."The position of the Azerbaijani diaspora has been seriously affected—so much so that all previous relations between Moscow and Baku are now under threat. And it should be said that Putin is not doing anything about it so far, while the FSB and security forces are acting as they please towards Azerbaijanis. Everyone in Baku sees this and perceives it as unacceptable. Plus, this conflict strikes at the entire concept of the Kremlin's movement through Azerbaijan towards Iran, that is, the creation of transport corridors. We will see what happens in 4-5 months," he concluded. On July 19, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that his country is preparing to file a lawsuit in an international court against Russia in connection with the crash of an Embraer E190 aircraft belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), which on December 25, 2024, was operating flight 8243 from Baku to Grozny.
