Pavlo Rad, an analyst of the Russian and Belarusian Studies Program at the Ukrainian Prism Foreign Policy Council, said this in The World and Us project with Yevhen Mahda.“Yes, there is no objective evidence that there are nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus, and this is not confirmed by Ukrainian intelligence, nor by the intelligence services of Western countries. There have been statements that nuclear weapons were present for a certain period and then removed, but again, there is no evidence that they are permanently stationed in Belarus. So, for now, the situation looks like this,” he said.Pavlo Rad noted that Belarusian specialists would not store or service these weapons on their own.“That is, Russian specialists would be needed for this, who would move there, control the situation, and provide constant supervision. It’s also important to understand that, in principle, Putin would not agree to give the nuclear button to Lukashenko. Even if these weapons, let’s say, were on the territory of Belarus, the button and the methods of use would still remain in Vladimir Putin’s hands. Therefore, Belarusian specialists or Lukashenko himself would not be able to make any decisions here without outside influence,” the analyst added.
