General Ihor Romanenko, founder of the Close the Sky of Ukraine Charity Fund, said this on Espreso TV.“If we look at the map now, we can see that the Russians have advanced 15–18 km north of Pokrovsk. This is confirmed by both Western and our own sources. Therefore, the Russians reaching the road from Kramatorsk, which provides logistics for our troops, is quite dangerous. This situation was predictable. However, the problem is that the Defense Forces lack the resources to replenish our units and brigades, at least those on the front line. This is necessary for these brigades to remain effective. With the current level of staffing, their effectiveness naturally decreases. As a result, we see the effects of such actions on the front,” Romanenko said.According to him, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are currently taking all necessary measures to stop the Russian advance north of Pokrovsk.“To halt the Russian advance in this direction, it is necessary to actively strike the occupiers, including using aviation, drones, and artillery. In fact, the Defense Forces have already begun countering this advance. However, this is lost time, and the Defense Forces do not have significant reserves to counter it effectively,” he concluded. On August 9, DeepState reported that Russian forces are attacking Dobropillia with the 132nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade, made up mostly of residents from temporarily occupied parts of the Donetsk region and migrants from Central Asia.On August 12, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi ordered additional troops and equipment to be sent to eliminate sabotage groups in the Pokrovske direction.President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that military briefings on the frontline situation had been presented, including in the Dobropillia and Pokrovsk areas.
