Katalin Cseh, a member of the Hungarian National Assembly, spoke on Slawa TV, broadcast by Espreso TV, about the influence of Russian propaganda in Hungary.“It is very powerful. And it is not the classic form of Russian propaganda. We do not have Sputnik, Russia Today, or other channels. But if we talk to Hungarian public television companies, we can hear the same narratives that come from the Kremlin. In Budapest, you can see billboards with caricatures of Zelenskyy. Russian propaganda has already become the official narrative of Budapest,” Cseh said. The MP criticized Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for undermining independent media, saying this has allowed the government to control the information presented to a large portion of Hungarians. “That is, people are simply not given access to the truth. And this is extremely dangerous for our future. Of course, more and more people are realizing that lies are being spread,” she added.Reflecting on Hungary’s response to the war in Ukraine, Cseh noted the country’s compassion: “When refugees came to us after the war started, we took them in, we talked to these people. And so I think that we are a country of very kind-hearted people, but our government is actually misusing its power because they are leading us down a path that does not suit us as a people,” she concluded.
