Sources in Ukrainian intelligence told Suspilne that shortly after local Ryazan Telegram channels reported a “loud bang” on the pipeline, a large fire broke out at the site. Within hours, emergency service vehicles arrived to contain the blaze.According to residents, law enforcement officers and repair crews are currently deployed near the village of Bozhatkovo, working to eliminate the consequences of the blast and fire. The pipeline, which since 2018 has been repurposed by Transneft to supply gasoline — including for the Russian army — is now out of service.“As a result of the incident, the transportation of petroleum products to Moscow has been suspended indefinitely, while Transneft representatives are assessing the damage,” the source noted.A successful Ukrainian drone attack has once again put the Druzhba pipeline — which has supplied Russian oil to Central Europe for over 50 years — under the spotlight. The brief shutdown rattled Budapest and reignited the long-standing debate over whether the EU should continue tolerating Hungary and Slovakia’s reliance on Russian hydrocarbons, which indirectly finances Russia’s war in Ukraine.
