Journalist Tetiana Vysotska shared the information on Espreso TV.“There is currently no clear understanding of what will happen if NATO actually shoots down a Russian aircraft over its territory. This is not a drone without pilots — this is a real plane. That would mean 100% escalation, potentially the start of a new round of war, perhaps even the beginning of World War III,” she noted.According to Vysotska, NATO would be unlikely to act unless a Russian aircraft posed a direct threat to government buildings, civilians, or critical facilities.“That is why NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte was walking on eggshells at his press conference. He had to project strength, show that NATO is not afraid, and send a signal to Russia and the Kremlin, which were closely watching. He stressed NATO’s readiness to defend and its commitment to Article 5 of the Washington Treaty. But in reality, if a Russian fighter flew into Polish airspace, it is not certain it would be shot down,” Vysotska added. On the evening of September 22, Copenhagen airport was shut down due to drone activity, while in Oslo, UAVs were spotted over a military site. At the same time, Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson stated that his country is prepared to use weapons against Russian aircraft if they violate Swedish airspace.
