This was stated on Espreso TV by Valerii Kyseliov, officer of the communications unit of the 116th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.“From previous actions, it’s clear: wherever the Russians managed to push our defenses or create a tense situation, they immediately began to increase pressure there. Most likely, they are reinforcing both their ‘meat’ units and high-tech ones to push through and expand any breakthrough they achieved,” he said. The officer emphasized that additional Ukrainian brigades are now involved, pushing the enemy back north of Kupiansk and returning it to the line of contact that existed a month or a month and a half ago.“The 116th Brigade, which I can speak for, is holding positions east of Kupiansk and opposite the town itself. The enemy has not pushed back these positions. The Russian penetration into Kupiansk created a problem for us, since it complicated our logistics through the crossings and the town,” Kyseliov noted. He added that Ukrainian fighters are now conducting clearing operations and pushing the Russians back in order to continue delivering everything needed to frontline units.“The enemy will undoubtedly try either to bypass Kupiansk or to level it to force us out, because what they really need is Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi. It’s a large logistical hub that they could later use for their own purposes. That’s why I believe Kupiansk will remain under pressure and constant assaults, since for them the priority is not the town itself but Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi — the artery that would allow rapid redeployment of forces,” the officer concluded.
