There is no evidence of military strikes in the area around the pylons and power lines of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), which indicates that the plant was deliberately disconnected from Ukraine's power grid.

Details: Former military experts in remote sensing from McKenzie Intelligence Services (MIS) analysed high-resolution satellite images dated 26 September 2025 provided by Greenpeace Ukraine.

In their report, the experts state that there were no signs of shelling or attacks at the location of the 750 kV transmission tower.
This suggests that the disconnection of the Zaporizhzhia NPP from Ukraine's power grid was deliberate, aiming to seize full control of the plant.
Earlier, Russia claimed that the loss of external power supply to the Zaporizhzhia NPP was caused by strikes from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Russia's total disregard for nuclear safety and security must be called out and challenged by IAEA [The International Atomic Energy Agency] Director Grossi," Greenpeace said.
McKenzie experts assessed the area near the "damaged" transmission tower located 1.9 km northeast of the boundary with Unit 6 of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
Quote: "McKenzie conclude that:
The vertical 750kV lattice towers remain in position and upright. It also appears to confirm that the horizontal gantry is still in place connecting the two vertical towers
There is some uncertainty over a shadow in the image
The suspension tower remains in situ. It is still standing and therefore it should be a relatively simple task to repair
There is no evidence of any crater, either fresh or historic in the area surrounding the pylons and network of power lines in this part of the plant
The Ukrainian policy is not to conduct military strikes on nuclear power plants, which further undermines the claim that it is too dangerous to conduct repairs to the suspension tower."
Details: Finally, McKenzie concluded that analysis of the wider area does not confirm reports of attacks in this location.
Background:
On 23 September at 16:56, the only power transmission line supplying the Zaporizhzhia NPP from Ukraine's power grid was disconnected. This blackout is the tenth since the plant was occupied by Russian forces.
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Russia is attempting to gain IAEA support in its efforts to seize control of the plant.
The IAEA has officially confirmed the dangerous situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which has been without its main power source for ten days due to actions by the Russian forces.
