Ukraine's defence forces repelled a large-scale Russian assault near the settlement of Volodymyrivka on the Ocheretyne front in Donetsk Oblast on 9 October.

Quote : "The enemy launched an attack using 35 pieces of heavy armoured vehicles (tanks and infantry fighting vehicles).
One tracked armoured fighting vehicle, three tanks and sixteen infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed or damaged as a result of the defensive actions. The enemy also lost 41 motorcycles and two light vehicles.
Confirmed enemy losses in the area over the day were: 107 killed and 51 wounded."
Details : The Russians' objective was to seize the village of Shakhove.
The fiercest clashes occurred near and within the village of Volodymyrivka, where the Russians managed to deploy 32 infantrymen, 12 of whom were immediately killed.
The rest attempted to hide in destroyed houses and basements. Heavy bomber crews targeted those shelters in the evening and overnight.
Russian forces conducted their assault in several waves and from different directions. Motorcycle groups advanced first, followed by columns of armoured vehicles – tanks and infantry fighting vehicles carrying infantry.
Quote : "Thanks to pre-prepared engineering measures, including minefields and the coordinated actions of Ukraine's defence units – primarily artillery crews from the Armed Forces and the National Guard as well as unmanned system operators – the enemy's plans were thwarted."
Details : No movement of Russian infantry was observed in Volodymyrivka as of the morning of 10 October.
