Andrii Illienko, an officer of the 3rd Battalion Svoboda of the 4th Operational Assignment Brigade, said this on Espreso TV."The intensity since we entered this direction. This is the Pokrovsk-Dobropillia direction, if we talk specifically about our unit. Because it's difficult, in principle, to understand where Pokrovsk ends and Dobropillia begins," he stated.Illienko added that this is all, in principle, one theater of military operations, if one can put it that way."Accordingly, if we talk about our situation, since we came here, and we came here several months ago, the situation has not changed much, meaning these are daily battles that sometimes intensify, and of course, there are periods of a certain decrease in intensity, but these are constant, constant, constant battles," the officer said. The National Guardsman emphasized that, overall, it is clear that Russia, Putin, and the Kremlin are placing a rather large bet precisely on Donbas, on the battle in Donbas in recent months."And I am by no means saying that on other sections of the front. I am not trying to diminish it in any way, because it is obvious that there are hostilities in many other places, in the Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions," Illienko noted. In his opinion, if we talk specifically about Donbas, then of course, it is felt here that Russia is making not only a military but also a political bet on trying to seize the territories currently controlled by Ukraine in the Donetsk region."In fact, we all understand that this is a belt of Ukrainian fortresses in Donbas, in northern Donbas, in western Donbas, which we now control, have controlled all these years, and the enemy could not take these cities, these agglomerations, even from the very beginning of the full-scale invasion. And this is, in essence, a defense line that holds access deep into the country. Therefore, it is strategically important, politically important, and militarily important, and that is why we understand the importance of this battle, we understand what we are defending and what the price of this battle is. Therefore, we are making maximum efforts," the officer said.Illienko thanked everyone who supports the battalion."Because we, of course, need a lot of everything - drones, ground drones, electronic warfare equipment, and much, much more. And we are working, doing everything to maximally destroy the enemy, maximally save the lives of our soldiers, and hold the defense line, to prevent this death machine from going deep into the country," the National Guardsman concluded.
