Previously, joining NATO was considered a security guarantee. But after Donald Trump became president of the United States, I am absolutely unsure about this. No one knows if the United States will defend Europe in case, say, Vladimir Putin decides to attack the Baltic countries or Poland. What if it turns out that the Americans are not going to do this, but are going to talk to Putin about some kind of conflict cessation? Or will new, more serious sanctions against the Russian Federation be imposed?" he said.
