Diplomat Roman Bezsmertnyi stated this on Espreso TV."Regarding the Kremlin's position, it has two options - to seize Ukraine either through Donald Trump's hands or by force, through war. There is no third option, which Trump and perhaps some in Europe dream of. What is happening with the three most acute, hottest issues - elections, NATO membership, territories - on two issues the Ukrainian delegation has made a diplomatic and tactical move by allowing elections to be held and announcing a postponement of Alliance membership. But both contradict Ukraine's Constitution, which clearly declares the NATO course, and the same applies to elections - it's impossible to hold them during martial law. Moreover, elections cannot be held without preparation. This means that a ceasefire or truce are not conditions for holding elections. Therefore, neither the first nor the second is constitutional," Roman Bezsmertnyi noted.According to him, this tactical move was made by the Ukrainian side to make Trump finally understand that Moscow is not ready for constructive engagement. Attention should be paid to the words of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who spoke about approaching peace and appealed to the Russian side for Russia to ensure a truce for holding elections. No sooner had Merz said this than the response came from Moscow: "No, this will not happen!""This indirect dialogue was meant to make Washington understand that the Kremlin has no peace option. However, Europe, the U.S., and Ukraine are going even further - a statement signed by the largest EU and European countries. This document contains an interesting maneuver - if previously Europe held the position of 'no territorial concessions,' this statement has a fork: on one hand - no forcible border changes, and on the other - the issue of territories is decided by the President of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. By the way, the second position is also unconstitutional, but it has appeared. This means that in the Kyiv-Brussels-Washington triangle, they hypothetically allowed this thing and now gave Moscow an opportunity to react. Still, Moscow today, December 16, through Peskov's mouth said: 'No!'" the diplomat commented. In his opinion, in this situation enough has already been said to once again realize that Russia has no peace option. It was clear a priori that Moscow would not accept the positions that would be developed in the Kyiv-Brussels-Washington triangle. After all, Moscow already rejects any European participation in the negotiation process."Are these arguments enough for Washington now? I don't know. In the coming days, the discussion of the document text will continue, and then we can say whether Washington understands the situation as it has now become completely clear to Europeans," Bezsmertnyi concluded. On December 15, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz proposed that Russia arrange a ceasefire in Ukraine during Christmas and stated that everything now depends on Moscow.Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine before Christmas, stating that Russia "does not want to give Ukraine a respite to prepare for continuing the war".
