Russia has deliberately reduced the intensity of bombardments on the eve of the 9 May Victory Day parade, but the fighting has never really stopped.
Victory Day is a Russian holiday commemorating the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in 1945, celebrated on 9 May ed.

Background On 28 April, the Kremlin announced that Putin had unilaterally declared a truce on the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II.
Zelenskyy described Putins initiative to declare a threeday truce as a theatrical performance aimed at creating an illusion of Russias exit from isolation.
He instead insisted on a 30day ceasefire, as proposed by the United States.
Ukraines Air Force reported that no Russian loitering munitions had been detected in the air since the start of the day on 8 May, although the Russians intensified tactical airstrikes.
One person was killed and two were injured in Russian guided bomb strikes in Sumy Oblast on the night of 78 May.
Ukraines General Staff reported that, as of 1600 on 8 May, Russian forces had continued assault operations across the entire war zone, with the number of combat engagements reaching 117.
