Turkish president proposes Türkiye as venue for Ukraine peace talks during Macron convo

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoan has noted in a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron that a historic moment has been reached in efforts to end Russias war against Ukraine and once again proposed Trkiye as a platform for negotiations.
Source Erdoans press service on X Twitter, as reported by European Pravda Details The leaders discussed bilateral relations between France and Trkiye as well as regional and global affairs.
Quote Stating that a historic turning point has been reached in ending the war between Ukraine and Russia and that this opportunity should be seized, President Erdoan said that Trkiye is ready to offer any contribution, including hosting negotiations for a ceasefire and lasting peace.
Details Paris has not yet released any statements on the details of the conversation.
Background Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has not responded to the proposal for a 30day ceasefire and said he is ready for direct talks with Kyiv in Istanbul on Thursday 15 May.
Later, Yuri Ushakov, an aide to Putin, noted that Russias proposed talks in Istanbul should consider the results of the negotiations interrupted in 2022 and the situation on the ground.
