According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), explosions occurred at ammunition depots around 10:00 p.m. on July 2, followed by a powerful secondary detonation and a fire. The SBU noted that Khartsyzk, located near the temporarily occupied cities of Makiivka and Donetsk, holds strategic value as a Russian rear base. Russia has placed command posts, logistics hubs, and ammunition depots there—all of which, the SBU stressed, are legitimate military targets.“The SBU continues systematic operations to weaken Russia’s rear bases. Every successful strike reduces the enemy’s offensive potential. The summer ‘bavovna’ season is in full swing!” the press service stated.*“Bavovna” is a Ukrainian euphemism for explosions in Russian-occupied territory, literally meaning “cotton.”On the morning of July 1, Ukrainian Security Service drones struck the production facilities and warehouses of the Kupol plant in Izhevsk, Russia.
