Among the recent downed Russian Shaheds, there was one "jubilee" drone with the number Ы30000. The letter "Ы" in the serial number indicates that it was made in Alabuga in Tatarstan, referring to the so-called "Geran-2", according to Defense Express.A photo of the wreckage was obtained by Defense Express from its sources. In the photo, in addition to the serial number, one can notice the additional marking "С3ВК". This additional label serves as a designation for the satellite navigation system. In this particular case, the downed Shahed was equipped with a 12-channel Kometa-M, which is currently Russia's most interference-protected solution.

There were also drones starting with the letters "Ъ" and "Э," which are produced at Alabuga. Additionally, there are "K", "KB", "KC" drones manufactured at the Kupol factory in Izhevsk, which was recently effectively hit by Ukrainian long-range drones. For chronology, it's also worth recalling that the Shaheds with the "Ы" index began to be used by Russia in July 2023.
photo: Defense ExpressBy February 2024, numbers above 2600 were recorded. The last known number with an exact date reference, in the 20th days of December 2024, was "Ы11934."That means, in the first half of 2023, approximately 2,500 units were produced in the "Ы" series. By the end of 2024, that number increased to 10,000, and in the first seven months of 2025, 18,000 drones were produced. In other words, there has been a truly rapid increase in the production of Shaheds, and this is just for one type labeled "Ы."Forecasting limits: When production hits a ceilingAt the same time, building any dependencies and predicting continued similar growth rates for the production of these drones may be inaccurate. The thing is, any production eventually reaches a plateau and hits a "ceiling."It might be limited not by the final assembly capabilities of the product itself, but by the availability of necessary components. For example, satellite navigation antennas or warheads. There is also the issue of resource consumption. According to the leaked documentation of Alabuga, the planned price for mass production at the 2023 level was set at 193,000 dollars.Rising costs: How much is Russia spending?Currently, the cost of one Shahed in Russia, or more precisely Geran-2, is unknown. On the one hand, Russia has started to install more expensive satellite navigation systems, but on the other hand, it began saving on components, such as engines without a starter, starting from the autumn of 2024.If we stick with the known figure of 200,000, monthly production of 3,000 units costs Russia 600 million dollars, or 7.2 billion dollars per year. Meanwhile, if we calculate based on the increasingly frequently mentioned figure of 1,000 Shaheds per day, that would amount to 73 billion dollars annually. This would account for approximately half of Russia’s war budget, or about 20% of the total annual Russian budget.
