The diplomat said this in an interview with Yle.According to Sybiha, Trump is the only person Russian leader Vladimir Putin fears. The minister is convinced that anti-Russian sanctions bring peace closer.Currently, all countries are closely watching whether Trump will fulfill his promises, Sybiha noted."Sanctions should be destructive for the Russian economy. They should prevent Russia from fueling its war machine and trading with third countries," said the Foreign Minister. He stressed that many countries still buy oil from Russia, and Ukrainians pay for it with their own blood. Among such countries are, in particular, China and India.According to Sybiha, Ukraine's goal is to end the war this year. At the same time, in his opinion, Russia only imitated peace negotiations in order to gain time and seize new Ukrainian territories. The Foreign Minister also reminds that concluding peace is not only in the interest of Ukraine."Ukraine is now a guarantor of security. How this war ends will affect the security of both Europe and other regions. We need to realize this, and we must make joint efforts to force Russia to peace," Sybiha concluded.Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Friday reiterated that Moscow’s demands for ending the war in Ukraine remain unchanged, signaling no shift in position ahead of an upcoming deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump for a negotiated ceasefire.Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov cast doubt on the likelihood of a Zelenskyy-Putin meeting taking place before the end of August, signaling continued uncertainty about Russia’s willingness to engage at the highest level.
