Serhiy Zgurets, CEO of the media and consulting company Defense Express, shared the information on Espreso TV."The enemy is now deploying jet Shaheds like the Geran-3. Its jet engine lets it fly much faster — around 400-500 km/h — compared to the older Shaheds with propeller engines that top out at about 180 km/h. These jet Shaheds act like cruise missiles and need to be intercepted with missile defense systems."Zgurets also noted that using expensive air defense weapons to shoot down these cheap Geran-3 drones is very costly."We need to find ways to counter this new threat because the enemy will increase production of these drones. We must find a solution," the expert said. "Regarding air defense systems, I still expect progress in our domestic developments."He confirmed that tests of Ukrainian air defense systems have already taken place."Our system is quite effective using inexpensive missiles — it can use both Soviet and American missiles. I hope we can scale it up. But since the enemy is producing Shaheds quickly, we must speed up efforts to develop effective air defenses made in Ukraine," Zgurets concluded. On Thursday, July 31, the Center for Countering Disinformation refuted information claiming that the jet-powered drones used by Russia to attack Kyiv are supposedly impossible to shoot down.
