He shared these views in an interview with Anton Borkovskyi, host of the Studio West program on Espreso TV.Clark also stated that while he thought it would be beneficial if Putin complied with President Trump's ultimatum regarding sanctions, he did not expect this to happen. He added that he hoped his Ukrainian friends would not rely on Putin to stop fighting within 10 days.The general believes that Putin has made it clear he intends to continue the war until he achieves all his goals, including eliminating what he considers “the root causes of the conflict,” namely NATO.Clark concluded by stating that, based on all the information he has, the Russian military-industrial complex is operating around the clock. He noted that Russia is not using its best equipment in the fighting against Ukraine. At the same time, Russia is building up forces in Belarus, opposite the Baltic states and Finland, which he interpreted as preparation for a protracted war. He expressed hope that after the 10-day ultimatum ends, the United States would strengthen the Ukrainian Armed Forces with additional military assistance and promptly implement the previously announced sanctions.On July 14, Donald Trump announced that he would impose secondary tariffs on Russia, which could reach 100%, if a peace agreement with Ukraine is not reached within 50 days.In turn, the deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council and former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev called Trump's statement about a 50-day deadline for Russia a "decorative ultimatum."On July 29, the President of the United States announced that he had reduced the deadline for Russian leader Vladimir Putin to demand a ceasefire in Ukraine to 10 days.On July 31, it became known that U.S. President Donald Trump wants an agreement to end Russia's war against Ukraine to be concluded by August 8.
