His grandmother, Tetiana Hots, told hromadske about this.During the latest prisoner exchange with the Russian Federation, it was possible to free civilian hostage Bohdan Kovalchuk, who was abducted back in 2016 when he was 17 years old.Earlier, the boy had tried to leave occupied Yasynuvata to go to his grandmother in Toretsk in order to finish his studies at a vocational school and obtain a Ukrainian diploma, but he was detained at a checkpoint. The occupation authorities accused Bohdan of cooperating with the SBU, as well as of involvement in the bombing of cars and the building of the so-called “DPR police.” In 2018, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison and sent to serve his term in a colony in Torez.Today, the boy’s grandmother, Tetiana, reported that her grandson had already called her and said he was on his way home, so she is going to Kyiv to meet him.On August 14, another prisoner exchange took place between Ukraine and Russia—84 people returned home, including both military personnel and civilians.
