The War Zone writes that in recent months, Russia has intensified the use of missiles with maneuverable trajectories and electronic decoys. This reduces the effectiveness of the Patriots, which Ukraine relies on to counter ballistic strikes.Ukraine currently operates five Patriot air defense batteries: three supplied by the United States, one from Romania, and one jointly provided by Germany and the Netherlands. While Ukrainian forces have received additional interceptor missiles, experts caution that even with these reinforcements, the latest Russian missile types are not always successfully intercepted. Most often, these are Iskander-M and KN-23 missiles — both capable of deviating from a standard ballistic trajectory, making their movement much harder to predict and intercept in time.U.S. intelligence does not specify which exact type of missile is the most problematic, but emphasizes that technological upgrades make them far more difficult to destroy, posing serious challenges for Ukraine’s air defense.Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced a military aid package for Ukraine valued at €500 million, which includes missiles and components for the Patriot system.
