He expressed these views in an interview on Espreso TV’s European Space program hosted by Yurii Fizor."A president should be evaluated by what he does and what he says while already in office. This is the red line: what he said as a presidential candidate, as head of the Institute of National Remembrance, or as elected president — we will assess him based on his actions," he said.Czech believes that Nawrocki’s first statements are not unfriendly toward Ukraine."This is encouraging. He took part in the conversation of European leaders with Donald Trump, which is also symbolic, and he supported Ukraine and held one line with other European leaders, according to the statement signed on behalf of Poland by Prime Minister Donald Tusk," the politician said.At the same time, he added that the statements of the Polish president are concerning."And I think that Karol Nawrocki and his team will think three times before the meeting with President Zelensky about how it will take place. We hope it will happen soon, including the official visit of President Nawrocki to Kyiv. They will set the right accents in Ukrainian-Polish or Polish-Ukrainian relations," Czech noted. In the politician’s opinion, these issues will be smoothed out."I want to say this: when a person with such a background as Karol Nawrocki, a background negative toward Ukraine, takes office, paradoxically, already holding that position, he can do many very positive things. We hope that this is the path the President of Poland will choose," he summed up.On August 6, Karol Nawrocki was sworn in as President of Poland. Ukraine’s Ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar, who was present at Nawrocki’s inauguration, said that Kyiv hopes for constructive dialogue with the new Polish president.Nawrocki will pay an official visit to the United States in early September. The topics of discussion with Donald Trump will be security and relations with Ukraine.
