Diplomat Andrii Veselovskyi, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine, Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the EU (2008–2010), and advisor to the director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, shared his opinions on Espreso TV.“I would like to draw attention to the fact that the world is changing, and we may not be noticing it. For example, on September 21, President Trump attended the funeral of the well-known American activist and blogger Kirk, who had been killed a few days earlier by a political opponent. At the funeral, the U.S. president said shocking words: unlike Kirk, who did not hate his opponents and forgave them, Trump stated that he hates them and does not forgive them. This indicates that the U.S. will experience a growing internal social, civil conflict, albeit not yet armed. As a result, the United States will pay less attention to the outside world, including Ukraine,” the diplomat commented. In his view, the situation in the Middle East is no less important. Israel’s leadership has promised to annex the West Bank, currently the territory of the Palestinian Authority.“France, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Belgium, and other countries recognize the Palestinian Authority as a state. This is another significant shift in what is happening in the world compared to previous months and years,” Veselovskyi summarized. On September 21, four countries — Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Portugal — officially recognized Palestine as an independent state, emphasizing support for a peaceful two-state solution to the Middle East conflict. Israel criticized this decision.
