The press service of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) reported the information."The Security Service has documented a new war crime by the Russian forces in the Donetsk region. According to the case files, on November 10 of this year, Russian forces attempted to storm Pokrovsk, using the city's residents as a 'human shield'," the statement says.Preliminarily, this refers to the 1st Motorized Rifle Battalion of the 506th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian troops, which attacked the southeastern outskirts of Pokrovsk.During the fighting, Russian soldiers from the battalion captured a local man, a woman, and a 13-year-old child. They then received an order to use the civilians as cover in the event of armed contact."The soldiers forced the victims to walk ahead of them during the clearing of buildings in the city. Such actions by the Russian Federation's forces violate the requirements of Article 28 of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War and are classified as a war crime," the Security Service emphasized.Based on the evidence obtained, the SBU has initiated criminal proceedings under the article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine concerning war crimes.Firefights are intensifying in Pokrovsk, causing heavy Russian losses. Since the start of the month, Ukrainian forces have killed 314 soldiers and wounded 71.
