Akhtem Chiygoz, Member of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada and Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, shared his opinions with Espreso TV.“We have all seen the separate meetings between Turkish President Erdoğan and Donald Trump. These are very important for us. There was also another meeting in the U.S., where representatives of Muslim countries gathered around one table, again led by Erdoğan and Trump. Naturally, these meetings attracted significant attention. This is particularly important for us because we are working to convey issues related to the war — and especially Crimea — to Trump through Erdoğan. Today, many officials we met with understand that trading away Ukrainian territory is not a solution to this war. Crimea remains on the agenda, and we will continue to ensure that the de-occupation of Crimea remains central to ending the war,” Chiygoz said. The MP emphasized that Ukraine should not compromise its position: the war must end with the full de-occupation of all Ukrainian territories.“In Russia, things are not so simple. Trump understands and senses this. He knows that Putin's rhetoric is largely a bluff. Therefore, no matter how difficult it may be for us, we must remain steadfast in our position on ending the war and restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity,” he added. The fifth summit of the International Crimean Platform took place at the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday, September 24. The event was attended by more than 60 participants, including 19 heads of state and government, as well as ministers and high-level representatives from 34 countries across all continents, and seven international organizations.
