Ukraine's former foreign minister and ex-ambassador to the United Kingdom Vadym Prystaiko in an interview with Antin Borkovskyi on Espreso TV.“Probably Europe, without the U.S., despite the 19th, 20th (sanctions packages — ed.) — which are generally quite effective — will not be able to encircle that ‘bear’, or whoever they imagine themselves to be, strongly enough to keep them quiet and make them appear only when the conversation is about a ballet performance or access to some sporting events, if they are even allowed,” he said.Prystaiko also commented on how much of an “honest broker” Trump can be.“I think that over the past six months we’ve become convinced that he does not claim that title. He claims the title of peacemaker and has ended many wars (some of them exist only in his imagination). But our task is to make our European partners find the strength, find the legal advisers’ clever solutions and step up efforts to seize the assets that belong to Russians and are held in European banks,” the ex-minister added.According to the diplomat, if those funds are used to buy weapons, that will allow Ukraine to defend its skies.“If at the same time the U.S. explains what role they will play in security guarantees — that is another stake driven into Russia’s future coffin. Next we need to understand whether they will give us the assistance we need from them directly — not from European partners but directly from the U.S. — just a few of these things. If they converge at some point, and we find the strength to keep fighting, and our people are united and support the joint effort, then I am convinced we will find a way to end the war. If one of these things is missing, we will slide deeper and deeper into so-called unpleasant, hard decisions — which, as I see it, society is gradually starting to prepare for,” Prystaiko concluded.
